We are incredibly proud of this residential bathroom remodel, for which we’ve received two prestigious industry recognitions:
- The 2025 NARI Remodeler of the Year Regional Award for Residential Bathroom
- The 2025 National Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence in a Bath Remodel
And our homeowner client is just as thrilled with her beautiful new space.

The homeowner of this stunning remodel hoped to utilize the top floor of her 1912 Bungalow as a Primary Suite. The existing bathroom was sparse and void of any real character or charm. The finishes had become dingy, and the space lacked storage.
Due to the sloped roofline, the bathroom relied on one single sconce to illuminate the room, which fell short, particularly in the evening. The homeowner dreamed of a relaxing, well-lit retreat to decompress at the end of each day.

We made quick work of transforming the space. In an effort to reutilize plumbing locations, the shower, sink, and toilet remained in their same locations. The revitalized shower is now decorated in beautiful hand-made tile with an enlarged shampoo niche. The leaking toilet was replaced with a functional bidet. An intricately carved custom vanity with storage below replaces the old, tarnished pedestal sink. A matching console sits adjacent to the shower.
The addition of a spacious free-standing soaking tub adds an element of luxury as you enter the room. Two new sconces, a skylight, and an additional window help to flood light into the space. Unique fixtures and finishes add warmth and character, transforming this bath into a spa-like retreat. The homeowner could not be happier with the result!
Before-And-After

A wide new quartz countertop, undermount sink, and wall-mount faucet allow for more usable countertop space. A custom-made vanity adds much-needed storage.

Two new sconces, one for task and one for general ambiance, help illuminate the bathroom.

An operable skylight and additional window provide a welcome dose of sunshine and Vitamin D for your morning routine.

A new bidet toilet is tucked in the corner, a welcome and unexpected luxury to this Primary bath.
Eclectic finishes of matte black and brushed gold give the space a unique quality. The two are married with tarnished and distressed metals found in the mirror and sconces. A perfect compliment to the rustic floor tile.

Handmade ceramic tile wraps the shower wall adding texture and repetition to an otherwise bland wall.
Free-Standing Focal Point Bathed In Natural Light

A glorious soaking tub rests near the windows for maximum natural light, allowing for a comfortable traffic flow 360 degrees around the tub, with head height in mind. A free-standing tub filler adds a sculptural element, creating a focal point.
The tub sits on custom handmade irregular clay tile, which was a laborious task for our installers due to the unique variation in color and size.

An operable skylight, and additional window make the room feel larger. The third window creates a more balanced, symmetrical aesthetic, grounding the tub.
Anyone would appreciate this welcome dose of sunshine and Vitamin D!
Custom Carving & Hand-Crafted Tile

Hand-carved furniture custom-made in Germany brings character, contrast, and texture to the overall design with unmatched craftsmanship.

Custom frameless shower glass helps bounce light around the room, slipping into the background while the shower tile steals the show.

A wall-mount faucet built into the custom backsplash took care in perfectly locating the plumbing to work with the vanity and sink.
Neutrals & Textures
A soothing color palette of layered neutrals keeps the bathroom light and bright while vertical offset shower tile brings repetition and continuity.

A multitude of textures brings interest and contrast, awakening all the senses, particularly beneath bare feet.

A variety of shapes within the tile, including Star, Cross, and Hex, add variety and personality to unexpected places.
Award-Winning Residential Bathroom – Challenges Met And Overcome
Trying to maximize the window opening but also work within an existing dormer proved to be challenging. We had to do some extra framing to make the structural header and overall height of the windows work.
We also had to be strategic about the placement of all plumbing fixtures to ensure head height met code. Locating the tub filler took particular care, to ensure it didn’t land too far beneath the ceiling slope.
The client fell in love with handmade clay floor tile that was almost an inch thick and varied in both thickness and width from tile to tile. In a space where maximizing head height was critical, it was imperative to sort the tiles out in an effort to use the thinnest and most similar pieces from the lot. The irregularities were a big challenge for the tile installer.
The custom vanity and console were made-to-order in Germany, which meant we didn’t have very clear specs for these items. The lead time was also very elusive, given the unpredictability of proceeding through customs. We did our best to plan for all potential complications and input the order very early.
Despite using some non-traditional fixtures and finishes and modifying windows in a tight space, the project was very successful. The client could not be happier with this space that fully exudes her personality and taste!
