Full-house remodel, caliber of work is outstanding.
We used ReCraft on our full-house remodel, and couldn't be happier with the results. This was a major project which took 9 months to complete and left no surface in the house untouched. ReCraft was a pleasure to work with every step of the way. They are very organized, communication is great, they have a strong and reliable stable of subs, and stayed precisely on schedule to meet our move-in date. On top of all that, the caliber of work is outstanding. Highly recommended!
ReCraft exceeded my expectations in every way.
I am an architect and ReCraft was the general contractor for one of my client's projects this past year. The project was a whole house remodel that included a kitchen, two bathrooms, all new interior finishes, a rear stair/deck addition, construction of a new stair through two floors and a dormer addition.
Working with Mike and his team was a fantastic experience. They were thorough, asked good questions when needed, on time and on budget. They kept the owner and myself up to date on progress during the entire project.
The stair construction was particularly complicated; it involved squeezing in a new stair to connect three floors under a new dormer all while maintaining existing access to the various levels. Additionally, Mike's crew had to deal with Portland's relentless rainy winter and keep everything dry throughout. They pulled it off beautifully.
As an architect, I am VERY picky about the quality of construction of my projects. ReCraft exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again.
Attention to detail and professionalism.
I already have recommended ReCraft for their attention to detail and professionalism.
Helping keep to our budget and make functional, stylish choices.
I love working with ReCraft. This is our third project with Mike & his team. Mike recommended an excellent kitchen designer and helped us refine our design decisions before we began. Mike, Ivy, Justin, and Jon worked closely with us as we chose cabinets, appliances, flooring, surfaces, etc., helping us keep to our budget and make functional, stylish choices. We loved the work team - they are skilled, friendly, and committed to keeping our home livable during the process. They kept us informed every step of the way, and were flexible when changes or complications arose. We love our new kitchen!
Description of work: We hired ReCraft for a full kitchen remodel. Project involved moving a staircase, removing our defunct chimney, and replacing a window, plus all-new cabinetry, appliances, plumbing, flooring, etc. in the kitchen. They made a custom banquette dining area and also ended up refinishing the floors in our foyer when we discovered lovely original maple flooring under the existing tiles.
On time and on budget!
Jobs completed on time, and on budget.
As always was impeccable.
Justin did a wonderful job replacing the siding (wooden shingles). John Lobo's paint job as always was impeccable.
ReCraft were great to work with.
Very happy with how our basement remodel turned out. We turned a somewhat useless rec room into a kitchenette, living area with closets, bedroom and en-suite bath. Mike and Justin with ReCraft were great to work with and respectful of our relatively constrained budget.
We will hire them again for future remodels.
Mike and Todd were very professional and prompt. The work ran exactly on schedule and just slightly over budget. Todd's craftsmanship is outstanding and Mike is a very organized contractor. We are very pleased with the results and will hire them again for future remodels.
Description of work: Remodeled two full bathrooms. Installed shower tile, floor tile, wainscoting, new sinks, replaced galvanized pipe with pex, updated electrical, new ductwork.
I will use ReCraft again and again.
ReCraft is very professional. They showed up on time, were in contact when needed, and produced paperwork promptly. I was impressed with how they stuck to the time line and price estimate. The quality of the work was excellent. I have worked with many contractors when remodeling our old house and I thought ReCraft was by far the most professional. I will use them again and again.
Description of work: ReCraft fixed my rotting front porch and remodeled my dining room. They added beautiful wainscoting, put in new windows, patched the walls in the living room and painted everything. It looks so beautiful.
We love the new bathroom.
We chose Recraft for our bathroom remodel. We received proposals from several companies, and though ReCraft was not the cheapest bid, we chose them because we found Michael to be extremely professional, friendly, and communicative. They were also willing to work with us and allow us to complete some of the work to reduce costs. They were professional every day on the job, showing up on time, using drop cloths to reduce dirt in the house and they went in and out, cleaning up after the day's work. Towards the end of the remodel we were pushing up against Thanksgiving, when we were expecting house guests (and needed the bathroom to be finished!). They made sure it was done in time and we are very pleased with the result. We love the new bathroom.
Description of work: Recraft removed a door and built a new pocket door to free up space, tiled the shower, added wainscoting around the rest of the bathroom, replaced the window trim to match the rest of the house, and subcontracted out a custom cabinet that was built to match our built-in hutch in the dining room. They also installed our new pedestal sink and toilet.
Working with Mike, the owner, went very well.
Working with Mike, the owner, went very well and it was unfortunate that there were a few other issues that did not go well. ReCraft does provide a designer as a consultant, and working with the designer and with the owner both went very well.
Details are important to me, and they pay attention to them too.
This is the second time I've used ReCraft, and once again I am very satisfied with the quality of the work. Details are important to me, and they pay attention to them too.
ReCraft does not shortcut projects, they do the job the right way.
ReCraft did amazing job. They meet the time schedule, showed up on time. ReCraft does not shortcut projects, they do the job the right way. We had weekly reviews and all issues were addressed. Great follow up to ensure customer is happy and satisfied. I have already recommend Mike and his team to my friends, family and will use ReCraft in our future projects.
A high bar has been sent for any other contractors.
We hired ReCraft in 2016/2017 for our basement remodel. I'm a year behind in my review! We had an excellent experience working with Mike and his crew, Jon, Justin, Ivy and Isabella, to name a few. Every time we go into the basement we're reminded of the high quality work and service ReCraft provided. A high bar has been set for any other contractors we hire in the future!
Always responded right away, listened to me.
I was very satisfied with the staff members. They were always very easy for me to get a hold of and always responded right away, listened to me, and anything that wasn't done well, they would fix it.
The quality of the work was supreme.
I met with Michael Andreyuk for my original meeting. He showed up on time and provided an estimate in the time he had promised. I received a few other estimates, so asked to meet both Michael and the architect, Michael Kiser, to get a feel of how they worked together. It was obvious that they worked well together. They both appeared to be genuine and candid when discussing the project. They were also very pleasant to work with. I hired them that day. The first thing he did was to give me a start date (which was the day he started) and then an agenda of the project, which they completed 1 week early... even though there were several surprises which could have delayed the project. Michael A. showed up to every meeting on time as did Michael K. They were present throughout the whole remodel. When the project began there was a hitch. After the design was put together and agreed upon (it was fantastic!!), Michael needed to present it to the city. It could have went one of two ways... One would have raised the price considerably, which would have meant not doing the remodel. Michael asked me to hold on to the down payment until we got approval to ensure that the job was going to be within my budget... this after 3 weeks of design and the blueprints put together... no cost was requested! This was the start of a very trusting relationship. The job started on the date he had originally said. Justin was the project manager and he was efficient and very productive. There was always someone working on my house. I had to move out for the first 3 weeks and my mailman and neighbors said that there was always someone at my house if not several. They were working hard to complete the structural work, so I could move back into the house. I lived at the house for the rest of the remodel, which could have been a nightmare. Justin communicated with me on a regular basis and always let me know who was coming, what was being done and what time they would start and finish for the day. Everyone that I worked with from the plumber to the tile guy was respectable and considerate. I work out of my home and I was never disturbed by rudeness and never saw laziness. There were some surprises along the way, which made my cost more than the original estimate. You will all find this when remodeling an older house!! Michael always discussed what needed to be done and cost before he did any of the work. Even when I would add more to the project, he would work it in and try to give me the best price. Even the architect, Michael K, was available whenever I made changes or requested a new design. He was involved in the project the entire time and would always double check the work! The quality of the work was supreme. If I have had any questions or concerns after the project has been completed, Michael has addressed them immediately. I would recommend hiring ReCraft for any remodel big or small. The company provides quality work and great people!
Description of Work: I have a house that was built in the 1920s. I wanted to remodel my upstairs to a master suite. Previous to the remodel there were 2 bedrooms (small) and a very small bathroom. I didn't want to change the look of my house on the outside, so requested that the original ceiling lines and windows remained the same. The owner of the company, Michael Andreyuk, recommended an architect, Michael Kiser, to help design the new layout of the master bedroom. It was going to be tough to design the suite to meet my requests and keep the structure the same. I had several meetings with both to help design and plan for the remodel. They work side by side and go over all details together, which is great when you are planning such a big project. They worked really well together and it was an extreme pleasure working with them. They were patient and offered great ideas and when the design was completed, we all approved. The job was bigger than expected. The wall that was removed was a bearing wall, so to provide the proper support, work needed to be done on all three floors. The heating system was older and did not have enough ducts to support the new heating and cooling system that I had currently installed. I added new ducts and of course there was asbestos, so it required special removal (surprise)! The structural work added a few extra weeks, but once completed the real work began. The upstairs was pretty much gutted out. The ceiling was raised (without disturbing the structure of the house), closets were added in spaces that were unused previously, and a sweet bathroom was constructed from scratch. New tile, sinks, toilet, shower, cabinets and mirrors. Oh... because the house was built in the 20s, the plumbing was not up to code, so all was replaced (old galvanized plumbing) and new pipes were installed in both bathrooms and are up to code!! When the wall was removed the wood floors did not match up. To remove and replace the wood to match would have cost a lot. Michael contacted the architect and he designed a wonderful alternative, which included darker walnut and a design which makes the floors pop! The cost was trivial and it looks fantastic! With all the surprises and add-ons... If you can believe it... the job was completed a week early!!
The new space looks amazing!
I am very satisfied with my basement remodel. The new space looks amazing and has proved to be incredibly useful. Although we are happy to have our house back, we did enjoy all ReCraft employees and sub contractors and found them to be professional and courteous. We have already recommended ReCraft to friends looking to remodel and we would definitely use them again in the future.
They did fantastic work.
They did fantastic work. I was most satisfied with everything. They do quality work and have great customer service.
The craftsmanship was top notch.
I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed working with the team at ReCraft. Everyone was friendly and considerate. The project was completed before they said it would be. And the craftsmanship was top notch. I would definitely recommend ReCraft!
Their scheduling and cost estimating are superb.
It's hard to distill all the good things I could say about ReCraft into one short paragraph. Their scheduling and cost estimating are superb. As an architect, my ideal is to collaborate with a builder who will work tirelessly to realize my design intent, and I am demanding in this regard. Mike Andreyuk and his team does this with grace on every project. Every client I have recommend them to speaks highly of them long after their projects are complete, and that's a rare achievement in the construction industry.
Great communication.
Great communication and follow through
This is the first time we have had a positive experience with a contractor.
This is the first time we have had a positive experience with a contractor. We highly recommend ReCraft. ReCraft was great in coming up with solutions to some of the non-standard changes we had. They also did a great job taking over the design from our previous contractor who we stopped using.
Their work is GORGEOUS. We are so grateful to them.
We can't say enough good things about ReCraft and their amazing team! We've hired them for a few projects: to finish our (old and grotty) basement, to add a dormer and renovate our attic (which had been nothing more than a storage space) and to design and install extensive built-ins in our bedroom. They impressed us at every stage of all of the above projects, some of which required complicated structural work in other parts of our house. From beginning to end they communicated clearly with us and our architect and they always followed through on their commitments. They were professional, friendly, and responsive to our needs. And their work is GORGEOUS. We are so grateful to them for their stellar work. We highly recommend them. The folks at ReCraft exceeded our expectations in every way.
The end result is beyond my expectations.
Mike Andreyuk runs a high quality construction firm! Mine was a substantial remodel and beyond any scope I had previously undertaken. It was dusty, loud, inconvenient, and pricey but the end result is beyond my expectations and I love what got created! I do and will continue to recommend ReCraft to friends and neighbors considering their own projects.
Mike and team are awesome!
We had a great experience with ReCraft and would recommend them to anyone. Mike and team are awesome: super helpful and patient during planning, very communicative throughout the project, timely and efficient, and ultimately did very high quality work. What is more, they care about sustainability and support minority- and women-owned subcontractors. They earned our trust and we plan to use them again in the future. Thank you, ReCraft!
It was a great experience from the design process to completion.
I am very pleased with our bathroom remodel. It was a great experience from the design process with Ivy to completion. Both Jon and Justin were great to work with -- I would definitely recommend Mike and the team at ReCraft.
Don't even bother checking out anyone else.
ReCraft is the best. Don’t even bother checking out anyone else. They have done two projects for me. On estimate, on time, super nice, top quality work, great communication.
Attention to detail, regular communication.
Yes. I very much appreciate the ReCraft team's attention to detail, regular communication, friendliness to our family, and quality of work. We are thrilled with our new, much larger, much smoother screen door and the other improvements that were part of our project. In any sort of project like this issues come up - the ReCraft team was open, communicative, and collaborated as we worked through decisions. Highly recommended.
We would absolutely use them again.
They were very helpful with the design and building. The communication was also very good. They were very timely and always showed up on time. We felt comfortable with them in our home. If ever needed we would absolutely use them again and we have even recommended them to several people.
Description of work: They did a full kitchen remodel for me.
We are so impressed with ReCraft.
Our family loves our new kitchen and bathroom! We are so impressed with ReCraft. Their work and staff are high quality. They were extremely organized and communicated with us throughout the project. They had great design and construction ideas, while preserving the period of our home. They provided flexibility for adjustments. It was clear they care deeply about the work they do and prioritize client satisfaction. We are thrilled with the results and highly recommend ReCraft!
Professional, accommodating and responsive.
My experience with them was wonderful, overall, because the contractor was professional, accommodating and responsive. They were prompt in returning phone calls and punctual in keeping with the schedule.
Description of work: They came and they remodeled the basement unit of my duplex.
I would recommend them.
I would recommend them when appropriate. I was satisfied by the communication and honesty.
A great job throughout the entire process communicating with us.
We hired ReCraft to remodel our bathroom and were extremely pleased with the results. The work was very well done, and Mike did a great job throughout the entire process communicating with us about the project. I especially appreciated that someone from ReCraft was available to come shopping with us to pick out fixtures and tile so that we knew we were choosing the right products for our project and budget. We had an idea of what we wanted, but Mike was also very helpful with recommending the right window, flooring, and tile for the space. We also had ReCraft replace a couple of windows in our house, and they did an excellent job with that as well. The contractors were pleasant and professional, cleaned up the workspace when they were done, and finished the project on time.
Quality and timeliness.
I was most satisfied with the quality and timeliness.
You really do feel that they put your satisfaction first.
No remodeling project, however big or small, is without unwanted surprises. With ReCraft we always feel confident that no matter what hurdles we face during the project, ReCraft staff with work with us to resolve them. Working with them you really do feel that they put your satisfaction first and that is very important to us.
Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
I can't imagine a better contractor and they are true to their work. Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
Top-notch.
Top-notch.
It is just what I wanted, but better!
I am very happy with results of my remodeling project with ReCraft. It is just what I wanted, but better! I have the highest regard for the company and for every member of my team - both personally and professionally. The project was kept on schedule with quality workmanship, products, and processes. They know how to listen and communicate well. I would definitely recommend ReCraft.
Commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
I was most satisfied with the quality of their work and their commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
The bathroom came out great!
The bathroom came out great, and I plan to use ReCraft again on a future project.
We love working with Mike and his crew!
This is the third project ReCraft has done for us at this house, and the biggest. We love working with Mike and his crew - they are excellent craftspeople and true professionals. Mike guided us through this project from the design phase right through the last trim piece. He hires great subs, has a fantastic staff, and is always responsive to our questions, changes, and requests. Totally recommend.
The work was professionally and beautifully done.
Mike and Recraft remodeled my attic, finishing the space and adding a bathroom and closet. The work was professionally and beautifully done. Eden, his design consultant, was particularly helpful in picking out the tiles and paint colors. I would highly recommend this company for your remodel.
ReCraft was great as always!
ReCraft was great as always. We have done multiple projects, and appreciate ReCraft’s attention to detail, schedule, and all aspects of the remodel process. Thank you!
I would hire ReCraft again without a doubt.
They did an amazing job! I can't say enough about it. He was very prompt. A lot of contractors are flaky with timing, but when he said he'd be here, he showed up. He wanted to do the best job possible and paid attention to detail. He was great at communicating. He kept us updated on his next step and how long things would take. I would hire him again without a doubt.
Description of work: They remodeled our den, knocked out a wall and made it bigger. This included new flooring, lights, tile and we went from knotty pine to drywall. They put in speakers and wiring for our surround sound. They built custom bookshelves around our fireplace.
I've hired them for 5 different jobs and they've always been excellent.
I highly recommend ReCraft! They are so good at what they do--and they do it with professionalism, consideration, and great communication. I've hired them for five different jobs and they've always been excellent.
They respected that we and our kids were living there throughout the remodel.
From the beginning, Mike and his team were attentive, professional, thorough, and simply a pleasure to work with. For our project - master/family bath remodel, master bedroom remodel, plumbing update, and fireplace update - our priorities were working with someone who could listen well to our needs, bring their own expertise and aesthetic/functional input, respect that we and our kids were living there throughout the remodel, and do it all on a reasonable budget. ReCraft delivered! We were especially impressed at their responsiveness when we had a question or concern (which are inevitable in these kinds of projects), their efforts to keep the rest of our home dust free (a minor miracle!), and their clear commitment to our ultimate satisfaction (especially impressive when considering how detail-oriented and particular we can be). Would definitely use ReCraft again.
I recommend ReCraft!
I recommend ReCraft ALL THE TIME.
Work started on the proposed start date, finished on time and on budget.
Mike and his crew at ReCraft provided excellent services above and beyond our expectations. Prior to signing a working contract, Mike detailed a proposed budget, scope of work and timeline. Work started on the proposed start date and we finished our project on time and exactly on budget with very few change orders. The quality of craftsmanship is beautiful, including attention to detail. The work site was cleaned daily with minimal invasiveness into the rest of the home. We particularly appreciated that Mike was on the job daily to check in with us and oversee the work being done and answer any questions we had. We are more than pleased with our final project and will continue to work with ReCraft for future projects.
Description of work: Full kitchen remodel, including complete demolition down to studs and opening up of kitchen wall to adjacent dining room.
Amazing to work with!
Amazing to work with! They helped our dream become our dream house. I'd highly recommend them and have to a few people. Pretty great overall. Little stuff happens on big projects and Mike was always upfront and had ideas to move forward.
Well organized and the end product always turns out spectacular!
Phenomenal company and people! I get a somewhat unique perspective in that I get to see the other side of construction that most homeowners don’t get to see. I work at CFM in Clackamas, and ReCraft purchases different materials through us. How a company handles the actual process of a remodel speaks volumes about a company. Every one of the projects I have helped with have not only been very professionally handled and designed from the start, but also always well organized and the end product always turns out spectacular! I love working with their designer, Ivy, and every one of their crew are wonderful to talk to, knowledgeable, and friendly. Highly recommend them!
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with.
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with. I was most satisfied with the level of communication, the organization of their billing, and expectations of cost.
We are delighted with the quality of their work.
*UNDER BUDGET! UNDER BUDGET!* Mike Andreyuk and crew took both our baths down to the studs. In the full bath, they reversed the position of tub and toilet, moved the exterior window, and replaced the free-standing vanity with a built-in double-sink vanity. In the half bath, they moved the position of the sink. Both baths have all-new drywall, electrical, PEX piping, beautiful new flooring, fancy toilets, wood trim, etc. Both look awesome and are much more useable. Although we started the project with plans from an architect, Mike offered excellent design guidance. Todd did a meticulous job on the carpentry et al and was super-conscientious about working around my baby's nap schedule. All the subs were excellent. We hired ReCraft because their bid was the lowest of the 3 we got for this project, and then they knocked our socks off by coming in UNDER BUDGET. Although the project took longer than estimated (est. 2.5 months, actual 4 months), it was worth it for us to save the $10-20K we would have paid another contractor. We enjoyed having Mike and Todd around the house and are delighted with the quality of their work.
Description of work: ReCraft did full remodel on one full bath and one half bath, and roughed in plumbing for a future third bath.
Doing things right when no one is looking.
We hooked up with ReCraft through a $75 Big Deal with Angie's List that offered a kitchen re-design plan through Pacific Northwest Cabinetry. ReCraft was the contractor that Pacific NW Cabinetry selected for our job. (I wrote a separate review for PNWC.) In Feb. of 2011 we began the planning process. Construction began mid-June 2011 and was completed in 8 weeks (one week longer than calculated). I shopped for and bought all my own appliances and fixtures. I had everything stored in our garage when construction began. Our kitchen redesign and remodel included floors, ceiling (eliminating an ugly drop ceiling, fluorescent lights, soffits), walls, countertops, cupboards, most appliances, and a custom tile backsplash we designed ourselves. The floors that we chose, by the way, are cork, and I love them. They weren't too expensive and Mike Andreyuk, ReCraft owner, informed us that the interlocking tiles could be installed over our imperfect sub-flooring. Mike and our job supervisor par excellent, Justin Kritzer, did all they could to lessen the pain of being without a kitchen for 9 weeks. They made sure I had access to the basement (temporary kitchen) even though the access was in their work path. They cleaned up thoroughly every night and were careful and friendly with our dogs. They were enjoyable people to have in the house. I like them both very much as people. Both Mike and Justin are superb craftsmen. On Mike's website, he defines quality as "doing things right when no one is looking." These guys believe this. Besides Mike and Justin, all the sub-contractors were pleasant, neat, and skilled. Surprises occurred with the plumber and electrician as our old plumbing and wiring were exposed. Options (for short-range goals and for long-term purposes) were always clearly explained and we were satisfied with every decision along the way. Flexibility and common sense guided Mike's decisions about unexpected repairs. Minor additions were free. Work-change orders were used for the big stuff. Speaking of work-change orders, as the job progressed, we decided to add a bit of work to an adjoining bathroom. Mike cheerfully tolerated our periods of indecision and helped us spend what we wanted to on the bathroom and nothing more. The true character of a contractor is revealed when genuine glitches develop, as they are bound to. For example, Mike ordered too many lovely hand-made tiles which of course I had to pay for. He then offered to buy them ALL back, adding that he would sell us any that we wanted for half-price, but emphasizing that we were not obligated to buy any. We had a minor problem with the flooring sub-contractor when the stair tread ended up being too narrow for my husband's comfort. Justin devised a way to extend each stair tread, and the flooring sub-contractor sent his guy to glue new material (from some that we thankfully had left over). The stairs are now fine and it cost us no extra money, but I know that it cost Mike. A project like this, for my husband and me at least, is one that we will do only once. But -- if I had this job to do over again, is there something I'd do differently? Yes. I would consider changes in the kitchen lighting. First, I would have one additional ceiling light at the doorway to the dining room. That area is dim compared to the rest of the kitchen. Also, I would discuss LED alternatives to conventional lights. Our dimmer switches allegedly operate only with conventional lights. (Friends tell us we can find LED lights at Costco that will work with our dimmers. We shall see.) When we were planning the lighting, no mention was made of LED vs. conventional. I trust Mike will broach this subject with future customers. Besides the obvious environmental issues of conventional, LED lights would burn cooler, which would be a very good thing. The counter area beneath the cupboard lights gets warm -- butter melts. The shelves directly above the lights become too warm -- chocolate melts. The under-cupboard lights are warm to the eyes, in a good way. I do like them. Another change I'd make would be to omit a dumb purchase that I made on my own, an electronic Delta kitchen faucet -- expensive! -- around $350. The selling point was that to turn it off and on, one must only tap the faucet with an arm or elbow, no need to use the handle, so that the faucet can be operated when one's hands are full, coated with Crisco, etc. We spent three months trying to get in sync with the mind of this faucet, which would turn itself on if we tapped anywhere in the vicinity, like around the base of the faucet when cleaning the sink, resulting in a blast of water on the arm, usually when wearing a nice sweater. Finally we triumphantly took out the batteries and now we are the masters of the faucet. I enjoy my kitchen very much. I had no idea I would end up with anything so beautiful. Mike and Justin, working with Crystal Kennedy from Pacific Northwest Cabinetry, provided the ideas, the artistry, and the skill.
Description of work: the dollar figure does not include funds paid to the cabinetry people, Pacific Northwest Cabinetry, which I reviewed separately. This was a complete kitchen remodel: gut kitchen & remove appliances, raise dropped ceiling, remove soffits, upgrade plumbing and electricity, build new ceiling, install ceiling lighting, re-do floors, install swinging door, re-texture walls, install granite tile counters, install new cabinetry, install ceramic and glass tile backsplash, paint entire kitchen, re-install appliances and build vent to outside for microhood, plan cabinetry to hold vent-pipe. Partial bathroom remodel: remove toilet, replace toilet shut-off valve, remove sink and vanity, install new flooring, toilet, sink, & vanity. Partial remodel of kitchen/bathroom hall leading to back door: remove cabinets, replace flooring, install new handrail with guardrails to basement, replace threshold.
Always been more than pleased with the results.
We've used their company for several projects in our home and we have always been more than pleased with the results. I was satisfied with the people who we were working with on site. They were always good to work with and did a good job.
Mike always offered us options and was understanding of our limits.
We had a great experience with Mike. We received two bids on our basement and Mike's came in the lowest and we like his work, so we went with him. Our basement was a very difficult project as the ceiling is concrete, which put limits on the design. Mike was very creative in coming up with solutions as to how to deal with the ceiling and our space in general. He was also very accommodating as we sometimes had difficulty making a decision. The project went over budget, but this was due in large part to the unique structure of our basement, as well as several last-minute changes we made. Mike always offered us options at various price points and was understanding of our limits.
Description of work: Remodeled basement - added two rooms and a living room.
Excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship.
This is an excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship. I highly recommend!
They were on time, kept the work area neat and clean.
We tore out two small walls to open up our kitchen and took the room down to the studs for the contractors. They started the week after New Years and planned to be done the weekend of Feb. 20. They finished their work before the Superbowl. One needs to keep in mind that this is a mid-90’s manufactured home with non-standard interior walls, flooring and the like. The sub Mike used and his own work was extremely skilled. They were on time, kept the work area neat and clean. There was dust but, with sheet-rock, new lighting and the grinding of granite countertops it was to be expected. Mike was very reachable and responded quickly to questions and requests which we made from time to time during the project. As one example, our son noticed a gap between the granite of the breakfast bar and the new wall upon which it sat. It needed something in order for a finished look. We had cut the last check for the job but I called Mike and mentioned this and he went over to the cabinet shop and picked up trim. His crew came out and fixed it the next week. What’s more, since he had the material, he decided to have a real finished look -- he wrapped it around the end and covered up an ugly top gap along the backsplash under the breakfast bar. We had decided to save some money by doing painting and backsplash work ourselves. Yet even in these tasks, I found both Mike’s crew and our cabinet people great help, with suggestions and ideas. I have absolutely NO hesitation in recommending ReCraft to anyone who is looking for a contractor for their home.
Description of work: Ours was a total, from the studs out, remodel of a 1993 manufactured home kitchen.
ReCraft made the whole experience pretty easy and trouble-free.
Mike is very responsive, professional and knowledgeable. His craftsmanship is excellent and exacting. He uses excellent subcontractors. I have two young children, and his crew was very careful and accommodating around the kids. We ran into an issue with the countertop, but Mike was instrumental in working with the countertop fabricator to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. At the onset of the project, I kept hearing horror stories about contractors and kitchen remodels. But Mike made the whole experience pretty easy and trouble-free. I highly recommend ReCraft to anyone who needs work done on their house. I love my kitchen!!
Description of work: General contracting for kitchen remodel including electrical, plumbing, drywall, appliance installation, insulation, window installation and framing.
Remodel of 1924 Portland bungalow - extremely pleased.
I was extremely pleased with the work. ReCraft served as the general contractor on the project, with the cabinets supplied by Pacific Northwest Cabinetry (another great company). All of the people I interacted with exhibited the utmost professionalism. Mike provided a detailed bid and scope of work, and there were only minimal change orders, all but one of which resulted from my decisions. (One was the result of some extra structural work that they discovered had to be done after opening up one of the walls.) Mike was clear about the need for each change order, and the overall price came in very close to the original estimate. Most importantly, the workmanship on every aspect of the remodel was absolutely first rate. I would highly recommend this company to anyone considering a remodel.
Description of work: Complete "down to the studs" remodel of my kitchen in my 1924 Portland bungalow.
Timely, excellent communication, excellent value.
Had a great experience with Mike and crew at ReCraft on our master bathroom and bedroom remodel. Timely, excellent communication, excellent value. They were quick to resolve any problems that arose, and they made clear that my satisfaction was their top priority. They especially worked hard to make sure the rest of house stayed clean and dust-free while we lived in through the remodel (with kids and a dog). No small feat! I'd definitely use them again.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget, and we are so happy with the end result.
You won't find a contractor who will do a better job and at a fair price.
We have used ReCraft for a number of small house projects over the years, and the quality and craftsmanship of each were so outstanding every time that we were quite happy to hire them for our kitchen remodel. We got quotes from two larger companies whose quotes were much higher, and whose customer service during the bidding process left much to be desired.
We started with a small kitchen update, but with the domino effect of remodeling an old home, we ended up gutting the kitchen and re-starting from the studs and going for our dream kitchen. Mike was very responsive, patient, and understanding every step of the way with all of the changes, and had great advice and recommendations. Justin, the lead carpenter on our project is a master and true perfectionist, with great attention to detail and was very respectful and understanding of our input, feedback, and any concerns we had during the duration of the project. While you may find a contractor who can complete a job faster, you won't find a contractor who will do it better and at a fair price. If you want a small, quality focused company who takes the time to do the job right and listens and responds to your needs and concerns, Mike and ReCraft is the contractor you are looking for!
Satisfied with the quality and aesthetics.
I was most satisfied with the quality, and their own aesthetics matched mine. I didn't feel like I had to tell them anything.
Excellent project management and communication.
Excellent project management and communication. The on site folks were awesome and the overall craftsmanship superb.
Communication, planning, sticking to timeline and budget.
Really happy with the final work and the communication throughout the project. Well organized, great partners, and always happy to answer questions. Communication, planning, sticking to timeline and budget. Made the whole project go smoothly. Flexibility in finding reasonable solutions to unknowns that come with remodeling an old home.
I cannot imagine hiring any other contractor.
I am extremely pleased with the work that ReCraft did on our bathroom. I cannot imagine hiring any other contractor to work on our home, and we will certainly have them back for future remodels.
We knew we could trust ReCraft to do a meticulous job at a reasonable price.
We have worked with ReCraft on three different projects in our early-20th-century Portland foursquare: bathroom remodel, window replacement, and kitchen remodel. We chose Mike & his team for our down-to-the-studs kitchen project because we knew we could trust ReCraft to do a meticulous job at a reasonable price. This project involved moving a staircase and removing our obsolete chimney in addition to all-new cabinetry, appliances, flooring, etc. in the kitchen itself PLUS surprise bonus project: refinishing the floors in our foyer when we discovered beautiful original flooring under the tiles. I appreciate ReCraft's commitment to green building practices, their respect for our vintage home, and their creative approach to problem solving. Also, the whole team was super friendly & helpful. They kept to the proposed schedule, hired great subs, and kept us informed every step of the way. Totally recommend.
ReCraft is all about fair prices, superior quality and people you can trust.
The team was excellent. The carpenter, Todd was reliable, extremely skilled and a wonderful person professionally and personally. Mike, the lead contractor was efficient, thorough and honest. He too was an all around great individual. Lastly, the plumbers that were part of this team were once again highly skilled, efficient and personable. All of the work was exactly to what we had asked and our expectations were exceeded. Also just as important to note, this group can be trusted to enter and work closely in your home. If you are looking for quality work at a reasonable price look no further. Be aware other contractors may come in with a lower bid, but rest assured that this group will not be "adding on" to the bill as your work progresses, like others will. Also, we were sure with all of the work we were asking them to help us with they would take longer than the estimate of time they had given us, but that was not the case. They completed all of the projects 2 weeks early! Great for us as we were expecting our first child and had a couple of weeks without construction and repairs. ReCraft is all about fair prices, superior quality and people you can trust....should I say more??
Description of work: After not being able to sell our home we came to the decision to remodel it a bit and make some improvements. ReCraft helped us to install new doors, even provided us with the companies to use at a discount. They had their team come in and install a dishwasher, build a cabinet around it and re-vamped our plumbing. ReCraft also remodeled part of our basement. The remodel included sheet rocking, dry walling, creating and installing an egress window, creating a guest room/office with closet in part of our basement. As you can tell they provided us with a list of services, so our opinion and review comes from a place of confidence and certainty.

Amazing to work with!
Amazing to work with! They helped our dream become our dream house. I'd highly recommend them and have to a few people. Pretty great overall. Little stuff happens on big projects and Mike was always upfront and had ideas to move forward.

We are so impressed with ReCraft.

The bathroom came out great!
The bathroom came out great, and I plan to use ReCraft again on a future project.
It was a great experience from the design process to completion.
I am very pleased with our bathroom remodel. It was a great experience from the design process with Ivy to completion. Both Jon and Justin were great to work with -- I would definitely recommend Mike and the team at ReCraft.
I cannot imagine hiring any other contractor.
I am extremely pleased with the work that ReCraft did on our bathroom. I cannot imagine hiring any other contractor to work on our home, and we will certainly have them back for future remodels.
Professional, accommodating and responsive.
My experience with them was wonderful, overall, because the contractor was professional, accommodating and responsive. They were prompt in returning phone calls and punctual in keeping with the schedule.
Description of work: They came and they remodeled the basement unit of my duplex.
They did fantastic work.
They did fantastic work. I was most satisfied with everything. They do quality work and have great customer service.
Top-notch.

I am extremely pleased with the work that ReCraft did on our bathroom. I cannot imagine hiring any other contractor to work on our home, and we will certainly have them back for future remodels.
The bathroom came out great!
The bathroom came out great, and I plan to use ReCraft again on a future project.
Excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship.
This is an excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship. I highly recommend!
Excellent project management and communication.
Excellent project management and communication. The on site folks were awesome and the overall craftsmanship superb.
I recommend ReCraft!
I recommend ReCraft ALL THE TIME.
Details are important to me, and they pay attention to them too.
This is the second time I've used ReCraft, and once again I am very satisfied with the quality of the work. Details are important to me, and they pay attention to them too.
Quality and timeliness.
I was most satisfied with the quality and timeliness.
Attention to detail and professionalism.
I already have recommended ReCraft for their attention to detail and professionalism.
Always been more than pleased with the results.
We've used their company for several projects in our home and we have always been more than pleased with the results. I was satisfied with the people who we were working with on site. They were always good to work with and did a good job.
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with.
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with. I was most satisfied with the level of communication, the organization of their billing, and expectations of cost.
Professional, accommodating and responsive.
My experience with them was wonderful, overall, because the contractor was professional, accommodating and responsive. They were prompt in returning phone calls and punctual in keeping with the schedule.
Description of work: They came and they remodeled the basement unit of my duplex.
Working with Mike, the owner, went very well.
Working with Mike, the owner, went very well and it was unfortunate that there were a few other issues that did not go well. ReCraft does provide a designer as a consultant, and working with the designer and with the owner both went very well.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget, and we are so happy with the end result.
The craftsmanship was top notch.
I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed working with the team at ReCraft. Everyone was friendly and considerate. The project was completed before they said it would be. And the craftsmanship was top notch. I would definitely recommend ReCraft!
Satisfied with the quality and aesthetics.
I was most satisfied with the quality, and their own aesthetics matched mine. I didn't feel like I had to tell them anything.
Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
I can't imagine a better contractor and they are true to their work. Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
As always was impeccable.
Justin did a wonderful job replacing the siding (wooden shingles). John Lobo's paint job as always was impeccable.
I've hired them for 5 different jobs and they've always been excellent.
I highly recommend ReCraft! They are so good at what they do--and they do it with professionalism, consideration, and great communication. I've hired them for five different jobs and they've always been excellent.
Always responded right away, listened to me.
I was very satisfied with the staff members. They were always very easy for me to get a hold of and always responded right away, listened to me, and anything that wasn't done well, they would fix it.
Commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
I was most satisfied with the quality of their work and their commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
Don't even bother checking out anyone else.
ReCraft is the best. Don’t even bother checking out anyone else. They have done two projects for me. On estimate, on time, super nice, top quality work, great communication.

Great communication.
Great communication and follow through

Working with Mike, the owner, went very well.
Working with Mike, the owner, went very well and it was unfortunate that there were a few other issues that did not go well. ReCraft does provide a designer as a consultant, and working with the designer and with the owner both went very well.
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with.
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with. I was most satisfied with the level of communication, the organization of their billing, and expectations of cost.
Don't even bother checking out anyone else.
ReCraft is the best. Don’t even bother checking out anyone else. They have done two projects for me. On estimate, on time, super nice, top quality work, great communication.
They did fantastic work.
They did fantastic work. I was most satisfied with everything. They do quality work and have great customer service.
Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
I can't imagine a better contractor and they are true to their work. Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
Always been more than pleased with the results.
We've used their company for several projects in our home and we have always been more than pleased with the results. I was satisfied with the people who we were working with on site. They were always good to work with and did a good job.
The craftsmanship was top notch.
I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed working with the team at ReCraft. Everyone was friendly and considerate. The project was completed before they said it would be. And the craftsmanship was top notch. I would definitely recommend ReCraft!
Amazing to work with!
Amazing to work with! They helped our dream become our dream house. I'd highly recommend them and have to a few people. Pretty great overall. Little stuff happens on big projects and Mike was always upfront and had ideas to move forward.
Top-notch.
Top-notch.
Always responded right away, listened to me.
I was very satisfied with the staff members. They were always very easy for me to get a hold of and always responded right away, listened to me, and anything that wasn't done well, they would fix it.
On time and on budget!
Jobs completed on time, and on budget.
I've hired them for 5 different jobs and they've always been excellent.
I highly recommend ReCraft! They are so good at what they do--and they do it with professionalism, consideration, and great communication. I've hired them for five different jobs and they've always been excellent.
Excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship.
This is an excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship. I highly recommend!
Excellent project management and communication.
Excellent project management and communication. The on site folks were awesome and the overall craftsmanship superb.
Professional, accommodating and responsive.
My experience with them was wonderful, overall, because the contractor was professional, accommodating and responsive. They were prompt in returning phone calls and punctual in keeping with the schedule.
Description of work: They came and they remodeled the basement unit of my duplex.
It was a great experience from the design process to completion.
I am very pleased with our bathroom remodel. It was a great experience from the design process with Ivy to completion. Both Jon and Justin were great to work with -- I would definitely recommend Mike and the team at ReCraft.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget, and we are so happy with the end result.

Commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
I was most satisfied with the quality of their work and their commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
Quality and timeliness.
I was most satisfied with the quality and timeliness.
On time and on budget!
Jobs completed on time, and on budget.
Excellent project management and communication.
Excellent project management and communication. The on site folks were awesome and the overall craftsmanship superb.
The craftsmanship was top notch.
I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed working with the team at ReCraft. Everyone was friendly and considerate. The project was completed before they said it would be. And the craftsmanship was top notch. I would definitely recommend ReCraft!
Amazing to work with!
Amazing to work with! They helped our dream become our dream house. I'd highly recommend them and have to a few people. Pretty great overall. Little stuff happens on big projects and Mike was always upfront and had ideas to move forward.

Working with Mike, the owner, went very well.
Working with Mike, the owner, went very well and it was unfortunate that there were a few other issues that did not go well. ReCraft does provide a designer as a consultant, and working with the designer and with the owner both went very well.
I would hire ReCraft again without a doubt.

Great communication.
Great communication and follow through
It is just what I wanted, but better!
I would recommend them.
I would recommend them when appropriate. I was satisfied by the communication and honesty.
Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
I can't imagine a better contractor and they are true to their work. Professional, wonderful and fantastic at what they do!
Professional, accommodating and responsive.
My experience with them was wonderful, overall, because the contractor was professional, accommodating and responsive. They were prompt in returning phone calls and punctual in keeping with the schedule.
Description of work: They came and they remodeled the basement unit of my duplex.
Excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship.
This is an excellent company with high quality people and craftsmanship. I highly recommend!
They did fantastic work.
They did fantastic work. I was most satisfied with everything. They do quality work and have great customer service.
Satisfied with the quality and aesthetics.
I was most satisfied with the quality, and their own aesthetics matched mine. I didn't feel like I had to tell them anything.
Don't even bother checking out anyone else.
ReCraft is the best. Don’t even bother checking out anyone else. They have done two projects for me. On estimate, on time, super nice, top quality work, great communication.
On time and on budget!
Jobs completed on time, and on budget.
Commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
I was most satisfied with the quality of their work and their commitment to meeting the timeline and budget.
ReCraft was great as always!
ReCraft was great as always. We have done multiple projects, and appreciate ReCraft’s attention to detail, schedule, and all aspects of the remodel process. Thank you!
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with.
It's the most professional and organized contractor I've worked with. I was most satisfied with the level of communication, the organization of their billing, and expectations of cost.
Top-notch.
Top-notch.
It was a great experience from the design process to completion.
I am very pleased with our bathroom remodel. It was a great experience from the design process with Ivy to completion. Both Jon and Justin were great to work with -- I would definitely recommend Mike and the team at ReCraft.
Always responded right away, listened to me.
I was very satisfied with the staff members. They were always very easy for me to get a hold of and always responded right away, listened to me, and anything that wasn't done well, they would fix it.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget.
We completed a large remodel on schedule and within budget, and we are so happy with the end result.
I've hired them for 5 different jobs and they've always been excellent.
I highly recommend ReCraft! They are so good at what they do--and they do it with professionalism, consideration, and great communication. I've hired them for five different jobs and they've always been excellent.
We are delighted with the quality of their work.

It was a great experience from the design process to completion.
I am very pleased with our bathroom remodel. It was a great experience from the design process with Ivy to completion. Both Jon and Justin were great to work with -- I would definitely recommend Mike and the team at ReCraft.
Satisfied with the quality and aesthetics.
I was most satisfied with the quality, and their own aesthetics matched mine. I didn't feel like I had to tell them anything.
Amazing to work with!
Amazing to work with! They helped our dream become our dream house. I'd highly recommend them and have to a few people. Pretty great overall. Little stuff happens on big projects and Mike was always upfront and had ideas to move forward.
